JRL's patented technology is an automatic adjusting
(dimming) electronic ballast with fiber optic sensors, sold under
the trademarked name Just Right Light®.
Until now, dimming of fluorescent
lighting could only be accomplished through a separately wired,
manually operated and expensive control system.
Technology Description:
- Just Right Light® units work using variable control
of the frequency at which the electric arc flowing through the
gas column of a fluorescent lamp tube is reversed.
- Just Right Light® uses light feedback through fiber
optics to generate a control signal. That signal is used to continually
adjust the light output of the lamps if there is any deviation
from the preset ambient light level.
- When daylight is present,
the light output proportionately adjusts down; the converse takes
place when daylight decreases or when depreciation or other diminishing
factors occur.
Best Applications
- Lighting upgrades of buildings
with magnetic ballasts and T-12 lamps
- Lighting upgrades of buildings
using electronic ballasts and T-8 lamps that are over-lit
- Construction (new buildings)
and renovations (existing buildings)
- Large areas of fluorescent-lit
space, such as
- Schools, colleges and universities
- Institutional, government
and military buildings
- Hospitals and health care
facilities
- Office buildings
- Manufacturing facilities
- Buildings with specific controlled
lighting needs
How It Works
| 1. |
Just Right Light® ballasts
are the same size as standard electronic ballasts, and are
installed as easily and economically, (with minimal work
required to install fiber optic cables and sensors).
- JRL's Just Right Light®
ballasts are installed into existing fixtures at the site
or
- Pre-installed into new fixtures
which are then shipped and installed.
|
| 2. |
JRL's technology provides a
Just Right Light® environment that is personalized
to the task(s) being performed and people performing the tasks.
- Each luminaire (fixture) is
adjusted and preset (using the internal fiber optic sensor) to
provide the amount of light recommended by IESNA standards (or
other standard as requested by the user) to the area being illuminated.
|
| 3. |
Just Right Light® ballasts
automatically and continuously adjust the light output of the
luminaire to compensate for changes in ambient light (daylight
harvesting) or reductions in lamp output (lamp depreciation)
- Once the lighting level is
preset, the Just Right Light® ballasts act as "thermostats"
for each luminaire, maintaining the set level regardless of ambient
light or lamp depreciation.
|
| 4. |
JRL's technology provides the
ultimate flexibility.
- Changes in layout, space usage,
etc., requirements are easily accommodated because the lighting
environment can be quickly modified (higher or lower) with a
simple adjustment.
